Foundation Course

In many cases, for studying in Russian universities at chosen specialty foreign students enter Foundation course in the 1st year of studies. Foundation course is a specialized educational program that lasts 1 academic year (from 7 to 10 months) in the course of which students learn Russian language and other subjects depending on the chosen future speciality (mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, humanities, history, literature). At the end of the academic year students have final examinations. Students, who successfully pass the exams, receive Certificate of Foundation course graduation, which gives to the student the right of entering any Russian state university without entrance examinations. If the course is in English, the student does not study at Foundation course. In this case a student enters directly the 1st year of studies at the university at chosen specialty. University options would depend on the students academic merits and time of application and are provided after assessment of the documents by the international students department. University tuition fee is in the range of USD 2500 to 8500 per year, inclusive of university fee, hostel accommodation, and 1 years medical insurance depending upon the university and the speciality. Students living expenses are within the range of USD 200 per year. Arrangements for easy facilitation of bank loans are available to students.
