MBBS is one of the most prestigious degrees in India and offers wide career opportunities. Accordingly there is a huge competition for getting a MBBS seat in India. So every year lot of Indian students go abroad for pursuing medical education. But students & parents have lot of confusion regarding
  • Choice of career (MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS/BSc...)
  • Choice of country for MBBS
  • Choice of university for MBBS
  • Real status of these universities regarding safety, actual living conditions, standard of education, ranking of medical colleges & expenses involved
  • MCI Screening Test
  • Large number of agents who claim themselves as official & provide conflicting & false information regarding above for their own profits. Students are the ultimate losers.

Davao is the third-most-populous city in Philippines

Davao is the third-most-populous city in Philippines. It is the center of Metro Davao, the third most populous metropolitan area in Philippines. Davao city is the largest in the country in terms of land area. The city serves as the main trade, commerce, and industry hub.Davao City is constantly described by its residents and the national media as arguably among one of the safest cities in Philippines. In 2011, Davao City ranked 87th among the Asia's fastest-growing cities by the City Mayors Foundation, based in London and Freiburg, Germany.
The Davao Medical School Foundation (DMSF) was established in July 1976 & has history of 4 decades of excellent work.
Various large hospitals in the city are attached with DMSF (total more than 4000 beds) for clinical training. DMSF is the first medical school in Philippines to set up simulated mannequin stations for clinical teaching. DMSF has an ultra-modern library of international standards. It also has state-of-the-art 3D Immagery Dissection Unit (IDU) & Team Learning Centre (TLC).
The college has separate hostel for Indian students (separate for boys & girls) with 24 hrs security. The hostel is near to the college campus but still has bus facility from hostel to college & return. The Indian food is available in the hostel.

This is a unique university which has tie-up with an educational organization in Pune, India. This gives many advantages to this university:

  • The initial B.S. study (12-16 months) can be completed in Pune. The organization has a big educational set-up of international standards in Pune. If student does not want to undergo B.S. in Pune& directly wants to go to Philippines, he/she can pursue the same in Philippines in DMSF campus.
  • The tuition fees of the University for All the Years can be paid in Rupees & does not vary with US Dollar-Rupee fluctuations.

National Medical Admission Test (NMAT)

National Medical Admission Test (NMAT)

The National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) is a nationwide examination required for the entrance to any medical school in the Philippines. For Indian students who have passed their 12th standard with 50% marks, this is not at all a difficult exam. This exam evaluates general preparedness of the students in physics, chemistry, biology& overall understanding level.
Following are the most prominent medical colleges in Philippines. We have described in detail the fee structure of each college. We have used figures little on higher side considering the inflation & dollar-Rupee fluctuations.
Please contact us for a more detail information & guidance regarding the universities.

Pre-Medical (B.S.)

Pre-Medical (B.S.)
It's a 16 months program which involves almost same subjects as MBBS but at introductory level. Generally, local students in Philippines need to complete 4 years (9 trimesters) of program after 10th level before entering in MD (MBBS) program in a medical college. However, an Indian student opts for MBBS after completing 10+2 level in India. The credits earned during the 11th and 12th Level in India are considered by the universities in Philippinesas equivalent to 5 trimesters. Accordingly, the student is in a position to complete B.S. degree with additional 4 Trimesters. This is Pre-Medical program (B.S.). After B.S. students need to pass NMAT exam.
Students who have completed B.Sc./BAMS/BHMS in India or those who have completed 1st or 2nd year of MBBS in other countries like Russia or Ukraine satisfy the criteria for Pre-Medical program. Such students need not undergo the Pre-Medical program. They can directly enter 1st year MD (MBBS) & save 16 months.

Medical education in Philippines

Medical education in Philippines
Medical education in Philippines is principally offered and developed by accredited and government recognized private & government medical schools in the country.
The Philippine medical schools are graduate schools offering the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. The M.D. is a four-year professional degree program. The medical education pattern in Philippines follows American pattern. In Philippines, primary medical qualification is MD which is equivalent to MBBS in India.
In Philippine, students (local as well as outsiders) don't get admission to Medical College after 12th standard. They need to have some intermediate degree before entering into medical colleges. The students need to undergo Pre-medical Education leading to B.S. (Bachelor of Science) degree & then they get admission to Medical college. Indian students who passed their 12th standard need to follow the same. Those students who have completed B.Sc. or BAMS or BHMS can skip this step.
Thus, after passing 12th standard Indian students need to follow following sequence:
After completing medical education from Philippines as stated above, students return to India, clear FMGE (MCI Screening Test) & undergo 1 year internship in India. Then they get permanent registration in India equivalent to MBBS in India. Thus the process is same as for other countries like Russia.
Since education pattern is similar to USA, many students prepare for USMLE & go to USA for further studies.

Medical Curriculum

Medical Curriculum
The first academic year of the General Medicine course begins with the teaching of fundamental medical sciences such as medical biology, Biophysics, general chemistry and Organic Chemistry, History of Medicine, Human Anatomy, and so on.
In 2nd & 3rd years, pre- & paraclinical subjects are introduced (physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology, community medicine, etc).Clinical education starts officially on the third academic year& onwards with the so-called "cycles". Every few weeks, students are rotated and exposed to different parts of clinical medicine such as Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Infectious Diseases, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Radiology, Public Health and so on. Upon graduation, the graduates are awarded a first professional degree "M.D. Physician" which is an M.B.B.S. equivalent. Students who have achieved very well academically are awarded with a red degree or a first class honor equivalent. The primary medical qualification in Russia is "MD Physician" which is equivalent to MBBS in India. Russia has a world class public health system. In all parameters, Russian Public Health is far ahead of Indian Public Health. The most prominent Medical Colleges in Russia are essentially Russian Government Medical Colleges. Now a days, private medical colleges have also come up in some cities. But they don't have recognition by local authorities, WHO or MCI. So it is advisable not to deal with these medical colleges.

Medical education in USA

Medical education in USA is of absolutely high standards & unique in terms of admission procedures. In USA, students (American as well as outsiders) don't get admission to Medical College after 12th standard. They need to have some intermediate degree before entering into medical colleges. In USA students undergo Pre-medical Education leading to B.S. (Bachelor of Science) degree & then get admission to Medical college. Indian students who passed their 12th standard need to follow the same. Those students who have completed B.Sc. or BAMS or BHMS can skip this step.

In USA, primary medical qualification is MD which is equivalent to MBBS in India. As per system in USA, one cannot practice medicine directly after MD (MBBS). One has to complete Post Graduation (PG). Only then students are allowed to practice in USA. Indian students can come back to India after completing MD (MBBS). But this is not recommended. If students come back to India immediately after MBBS (without doing PG in USA) they have to clear MCI Screening Test (FMGE) to get registered in India. But it is highly recommended that you continue your studies in USA after MBBS. Complete your PG there & then come to India. This has 3 large benefits:

  • As per rules of MCI, if students complete MBBS as well as PG from USA, UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, they don't have to appear MCI Screening Test in India. They automatically get registered here without any exam.
  • There are no expenses during PG in USA. Students are paid a handsome stipend of around 4000 USD (approximately 2,50,000 Rs) per month during PG in USA. Thus not only all past expenses are recovered but you save a significant amount while you complete your PG. Thus effective cost of medical program in USA (UG + PG) in USA is zero! Thus you can save yourself from PG-NEET which is a more competitive exam than UG-NEET which you appear for MBBS admission.
  • You get a world class PG degree with latest upgraded knowledge & skills. The PG degree from USA is MCI recognized. Thus in India you will be getting all the benefits of a MCI recognized PG doctor.
